IN OBSERVANCE OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH UNITED STUDIOS
OF SELF DEFENSE IN SAN DIEGO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTIES WILL OFFER FREE WOMEN’S SELF DEFENSE CLASSES TO THE COMMUNITY ON
APRIL 26th. Women and young ladies will learn basic principles of self defense in these lifesaving
classes. From weight lifters to house wives, USSD is committed to helping each student develop true self defense ability.

DIEGO, California, April 1, 2008 – Seventeen United Studios of Self Defense (USSD) schools in San Diego and Riverside
Counties will offer free self defense training to women and young ladies on April 26th in response to recent attacks
in our communities and in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness month. The National Institute of Justice and the Centers
for Disease Control found that 17.7 million women in the United States have been victim of a rape or attempted rape at some
point in their lives. This means that one out of every six American women have been the victims of attempted or completed
rape in their lifetimes. USSD finds this statistic unacceptable and is on a mission to equip women and young ladies with the
self defense skills they need to prevent these horrific crimes.
Each USSD school will provide
the community with a 60-minute self defense class focused on basic self defense principles that can save a woman or young
girl’s life. The class will include self defense striking, escapes for common grab situations, and strategies for not
becoming a victim. All classes will be taught by professionally trained black belt instructors in a safe and friendly setting.
The versatile Shaolin Kempo system taught by USSD utilizes a wide range of defenses that are tailored to each student’s
physical build and ability. From weight lifters to house wives, USSD is committed to helping each student develop true self
defense ability.
